We'll continue the monthly Open House tradition on Friday April 22, 2011, from 6pm-midnight.

RSVP's for this month's event due by 6pm Wed April 20 (see additional information regarding RSVP policy at bottom of this post).

In April, we'll offer our customary studio tours, portfolio sharing, social/networking space, and one studio room open for casual TFCD shooting.

We also have Adam Chilson's Introductory Studio Lighting workshop coming up at the studio on May 1. It's Adam's first studio workshop in over a year, and in conjunction with the May 1 event, Adam will be conducting an informal mini-workshop within this month's Open House. It's a great way to pick up some lighting tips and techniques, and get a small taste of what will be presented within the all day instructional workshop on May 1.

For those interested, registration/payment for the May 1 workshop is now open through Adam's site, here: Introductory Studio Lighting info/registration page .

For those who plan to model or to shoot, please review the Open House policies for open casual shooting in the forum sticky thread here.

**If you have never been to the studio before, please RSVP including the name of each guest coming with you.
**If you've been here before, no RSVP is required for yourself.
**If you are bringing guests who have not been here before, either:
a) RSVP with the name of each guest you are bringing, or
b) have each of your guests RSVP on their own behalf

All RSVP's should be made to studio@dm-gremlin.com, and are due by 48 hours in advance of the event - for the 4/22 Open House, the RSVP deadline is 6pm on Wed 4/20.

This Open House took us down the road of an intensive study of shadow play and patterned shadow casting, presented by Adam Chilson. Great thanks to Allison for donning the white tights and playing 'canvas' for the shadows for several hours!

At the end of the evening, Adam brought in my latticed dressing screen - and we discovered that it created the effect of being inside a confessional booth. We gave Allison a 'veil' and made her a nun, and then Adam went to Confession with his beer. I was reminded of the Kiefer Sutherland web series 'The Confession,' where a hit man goes to confess his murders to a priest. So then we ended up taking things to a dark and dramatic turn, with Adam posing in the 'confessional' with a gun.

Here are just a couple of photos I took, and as always, I look forward to seeing more from the other photographers who came to the event!
